PATTERNS AND SYMBOLS

What you'll make
:
A cover with a custom shape, symbol, or pattern cut through the surface, a star, a crescent, a cross, a flower, or anything that means something to you.

What you'll need:
A free Tinkercad account
The Kalumna cover file (downloaded from the DOCUMENTS page)
Optional: an SVG file of your chosen symbol

Open Tinkercad and import the cover STL file
In the shape panel, search for your desired shape — star, heart, arrow, etc.
Drag it onto the workplane
Resize it to your preferred scale
Adjust the depth to match or slightly exceed the wall thickness of the cover so the cut goes all the way through
Position it on the surface of the cover
Toggle the shape to Hole using the button in the top right panel
Select both the cover and the hole shape together
Click Group, the shape will be cut clean through
Export as STL or 3MF

OPTION B:  Using your own SVG
  1. Click Import and upload your SVG file
  2. Tinkercad will convert it into a 3D shape automatically
  3. Adjust the depth to match the cover wall thickness
  4. Follow steps 6–10 from Option A
ADDITIONAL TIPS:
SVGs must be simple and clean — avoid gradients or very fine detail, they don't translate well
If the cut doesn't appear after grouping, check that the hole shape is slightly taller than the cover wall
Repeat the symbol across the surface for a pattern effect using Duplicate and Repeat
